Saffron Robe Historic recordings. Albert Speer alludes to the performances in his memoirs but I had no idea recordings existed. Not that I have any sympathy for the Nazi regime, far from it, but I love Bruckner and these are powerful performances under difficult circumstances.

about

Wilhelm Furtwängler celebrates Bruckner (Vol. II)
Furtwängler has left us with 112 live concert recordings. Many connoisseurs consider that his most unforgettable performance was that of 7th October 1944 in the Berlin Beethoven-Saal, in full war during RAF attack. The programme featured Bruckner’s last (unfinished) symphony. In postlude the adagio from Symphony No. 7, attended by Hermann Göring. This original recording represents his most inspired performance and is a compelling testimony of his legacy.
